The previous Nakshatra of Bharni signifies nourishment, sustenance and nurturing abilities which cognates to a mother bearing a child in her womb. Hence, when the umbilical cord (Bharni) is cut, a child is emancipated. Therefore, “a blade” is the symbol of this Nakshatra.
The word “Krit” signifies accomplishments/achievements, and this is the essence of Krittika Nakshatra. As the Nakshatra of the Sun, prominent planets in Krittika will either elevate the natives to greatness or subject them to suffering if afflicted.
Krittika is ruled by Agni and pertains to the Dahana Shakti (the Power to Burn and Purify). Intriguingly, a native with a prominent Krittika might delight in having candlelight dinners or being around a campfire.
Krittika is presided over by Lord Kartikeya, a deity born from Agni and Swaha. This birth story is significant as it explains the role of the Krittikas (constellations) as foster mothers to Kartikeya[so people with planet(s)in this Nakshatra may have foster mothers or their mothers were distant]. This connection to Lord Kartikeya adds a mythological depth to the understanding of Krittika Nakshatra.
The major and underlying theme here would be multiplicity (Eg: Krittika Nakshatra falling into the 6H: The native may have multiple jobs), Sacrifice (for the well-being of others) and Getting Punished without any reason at the age of 7,14,21,28… years where Krittika is falling. A planet like Saturn posited in here would make a native overly critical and sometimes mendacious. Rahu would make a native indecisive and prone to addictions.
The prominent features of natives born under Krittika Nakshatra are that these individuals are Quick decision-makers, good at sorting things out, and good at guiding others (Eg: Krittika Nakshatra falling in the 5H: The native will guide you on which course to take up or how to study). These natives tend to be very direct and clear while speaking. They do not sugarcoat their words while speaking and can utter harsh words when infuriated (signifying the Krodh Agni).
This Nakshatra is a karaka for tonsillitis, pharyngitis, cervical spine, headaches.
Remedial measures:
It is recommended to perform a Havan regularly, or at least once a year (Eg: on your birthday). Additionally, donating Havan Samagri, ghee, or wood for the Havan to a priest would also be beneficial.
